Crankcase breather assembly

https://puredieselpower.com/dodge-pr...r-3944797.html

I'm stumped. Been researching this for hours. Even Freightliner and Cummins appear to be stumped, but that's a longer story.

I have this crankcase breather on my 5.9 Cummins Diesel. It's in a 2000 Cheifton.

One of these connections goes to a hose that vents out to the ground. The larger threaded connection on my unit is just like the picture. (Nothing there)

Can't figure out if there is supposed to be a cap on here, or maybe some kind of filter?

any ideas?

thanks,
'dave

Oil filler neck and cap , as per the diagram , or if you have a filler cap on the valve cover , may be just a plug .

This is a diagram for the 5.9 , 12 valve engine that used a vent tube in a different location.
In 14 years working on Dodge Cummins , I can't remember seeing the part , with both the oil fill and the vent tube hooked to it.

That looks like an ideal spot for a slow IV drip to counter oil loss from the KDP!

Crankcase breather assembly

On my 94 vectra 5.9 the breather tube connected to a vent on top of the valve cover at the rear of the engine. At least that is what I can still remember. Inside the vent was a screen mesh that could be cleaned by soaking in solvent if the vent tube dripped a lot. Rkl
