We left Chesapeake Bay TT on Tuesday morning and up the road a few miles noticed the LR Slide had creeped out about three inches.
Pulled off the road, retracted slide and it came in fully but when switch released it slowly creeped out again about three inches .
Not wanting to mess with it out on the road I retracted it and put the safety ties on and went our merry way to the Hershey/Lebanon TT Preserve.
After we were all hooked up and leveled, I took off the safety ties and extended the slide fully. Then I retracted it fully. Every thing worked fine??? I cycled the slide again and everything worked fine.
What are the opinions of you folks more experienced than I????
I suspected a possible air bubble what with the warm, er, hot weather the past few days, sitting at the preserve for 4 days.
Never happened before, am Praying it does not happen again, but, will surely fully cycle the slide should it get creepy again.
Your thoughts Oh Experienced ones!!!!

TIA

Capt Chet

This is the exact solution the techs gave me when I called CoachNet about creeping slides. They told me you should never open or close a slide part-way, but should always go all the way out or all the way in and continue holding the button down apx 3 seconds after the slide stops moving. And if one creeps a bit, do a full cycle on it making sure you hold the button down as described.

Another possible cause if the problem continues despite what you do is a leaking solenoid. They supposedly are very easy to replace, but I haven't ever done one.

I had creepy bedroom slide. My problem also started after spending 5 days in very hot conditions. Working with HWH over the phone, I ended up replacing the retract solenoid. Problem solved for about 2 weeks, then slide started creeping out again. I had a spare solenoid so I swapped it out and I've had no other problems.

HWH also had me visually check the connections to the rams and I had no leaks. They did tell me if I continued to have issues, an internal ram leak was suspect which would require replacing that ram.

HWH told me to hold switch for a full 5 seconds after slide was fully retracted.

Absolutely hold down the In or Out switch for at least 5 seconds. Ignore all squeaks, groans, and other sounds while you are doing this! Works great!

Hi Chet
My LR slide did exactly the same as yours about 3 weeks ago When initially closing the slide that day I slightly paused in the retraction process.
While on the road after 1st seeing it out a few inches I retracted it close, but it creeped again.
Finally stopped, fully extended the slide and retracted and held the switch on a couple seconds longer and not further problems.
Cycle the slide, hold for a second or two and I bet it doesnt do it again.
Enjoy Hershey TT/N. Its one of my favorites.
Ron
