Recent purchasers of a 2004 Winnebago Brave 32v on a W22 chassis with the 8.1L and Allison transmission.
The compressor on my dash air does not seem to be engaging. The fan blows fine. I realize that the dash AC is probably part Workhorse and part Winnebago and will post in both foruma.
I have tried a couple of simple things and am wondering if anyone has any other suggestions before I take it to my local Workhorse service center because I'd just about rather take a beating than have to put up with the making of an appointment, the delays and general aggrications of dealing with them. I was told that it takes nearly 2 weeks just to get them to talk to you...anyway .

The air seemed to be working about a month ago but now I don't even get a click or any noticable change in the engine when I turn on the AC at ide speed.

So, starting with the simple things, I checked and replaced the 10A AC compressor fuse, even tho it tested ok. Then I picked up a new AC Relay ($9) and replaced the existing one with the new one....Results: NADA.

Any other simple things I can check, verify, etc before heading into the dealership??

Oh yes, out of factory warranty but I do have an extended warranty that I got transferred over when we bought the 2004 Winnebago Brave 32v. Might get to see it in action pretty soon.

Thanks,

Capt Joe, you're low on Freon. There's a pressure switch in the system that is not allowing the pump clutch to engage.

You can go to Walmart and get a recharge kit for next to nothing. It should have a pressure gauge with it so you don't over do it. Add a can with the engine running and you'll hear the pump kick in.

Read the warnings. Freon can burn the heck out of you. I always use gloves and eye protection.
