Dash radio question...

I had a curious thing happen on my coach this past month...Just as we were ending our month-long trip across the U.S., the satellite radio quit playing. We were still able to receive AM/FM signals but no satellite. When I got home, I forgot about it, but the next trip we took, we had nothing...no satellite and no AM/FM. I vowed to get it fixed when the trip was over, but when we started home, everything started working again, including the satellite radio. Sounds like some kind of shorted wire, but I don't know where to start. Any suggestions?

Ramzfan,
As we all drive a rolling earthquake it is so very possible that connectors come loose. Pull the radio out and check the connectors on the back to make sure they are tight. Also there is a little black box somewhere under the dash that is the satellite module. it will have one wire going to the antenna and the other to the radio. Depending on the satellite radio system/unit there may be a "T" connect at the box for the regular antenna to pass through, giving the one lead out to the radio, or the satellite could have it's own separate input on the back of the radio. Also check the connection at the antenna, both satellite and am/fm. It does sound like a loose connection.

If all that fails, throw in the towel.

Happy trails.

No Signal

I think Wayne nailed it given the information you provided. However, if your radio was displaying 'No Signal' when this was happening chances are it's the antenna wire into the Sat receiver. It could also be the power going to the Sat receiver, and in that case you'd see nothing on the display.

That's why I always have an iPod with me.

This is really a different question from the OP's question, but I'd suggest you check the connections when you took the DVD player out of the set up. If you put the DVD back in, does the front sound work? I'd also suggest you take photos of set up, label cables, etc. if you get everything working again. Often cables get hooked up incorrectly and it's tough to put it back the way it was when working. This goes for multiple battery set ups as well.
