Howdy and welcome. From my limited experience, dealers will generally discount anywhere from 23% - 30% on a new motorhome.

If you multiply the list price by 71.34%, you will be very very close to dealer's invoice.

I was going to guess 71.326%, I like Ed's better!

If this is insider info, it is priceless. No pun intended. Thanks, Ed.

The true measure is what you can buy for and I would say 20-23% off MSRP but many factors IE trade in or not and is the MH a special order.

As you can see I own a new Journey

Hi Rbhein,
Welcome to iRV2. Dealer invoice means nothing. There are too many components going on behind the scenes (the buyer will never see) that determines what the dealer will sell the coach for. Some examples are:
1. manufacturer incentives
2. coach floor plan (is it hot or not)
3. dealer floor plan payment dates
4. cash or financing if financing going through dealer (finance company incentives)
5. overall market (is it hot or not)

What I have done and still do is determine what I will pay for the coach. Have the sales person write the contract for what I am willing to pay. The contract states the dealer has XX hours (I use 24) to approve the deal. If not approved, the deal is void and the deposit is to be returned. The only real low price a customer will receive is when a contract states that price. Everything before the contract is just huff and puff.

The best time to do this is the last couple days of the month or quarter. The last coach I purchased (new) was 32-33% off MSRP.

I met a salesperson on a atv trip in Virginia this past year, he worked for a dealership in florida, he told me a dealership pays 40 % under list, bottom line If they can sell for 25% off they feel good about sale, He had no reason to tell me tales. We were talking about higher priced dp's 3-500 range

If you go to nadaguides.com it will give the invoice price but you will have to list all the options, but it will get you pretty close. However, where the coach is a 2012 model it may not yet be listed.

Isn't that the "list price" on NADA and only providing a high/low? If not please pass along the link you are using to get "invoice".

Shoot for 30% off list, but dont accept less than 25%.
Also assume your trade is worth 20% less than Nada low retail - no options.
If you have a trade, the only number that really matters is the difference.
And have a big down payment, or you will be living underwater.

I may have swapped my Adventurer today, couple finance details yet.
I'll let you know how it turns out.

In 09 when I was shopping for a new coach...business was poor, dealers faxed me invoices...make an offer they said...I agree with Gary kd ...other factors can come into play too. 30% factor is pretty close I recall.
