Hi Scott. I'm far from an expert but I'll give it a try. Hopefully someone will correct me if I'm off base. First, I think you have an "inverter" and not a "converter". This is what converts DC power from your batteries into AC power which can be used in your coach when you are not plugged into shore power. Mine has automatic switches which control the function depending on whether or not I'm plugged into shore power. Without knowing if you have any internal switching, I'd think that you'd want the inverter off when plugged in and on when not plugged in... unless you are in storage, in which case I'd think you'd want to disconnect the batteries completely to avoid parasitic drains.
