Dimensions Inverter replacement/upgrade question

Hello, my Aspect has a 300 Watt inverter and it just died. I'd like to replace it with a stronger more powerful unit if possible. I've found some new inverters of the same type (Dimension 400 watt) on Ebay for about $200-$400. Is it possible to replace with a more powerful unit or does the wiring have to be upgraded as well? Thanks for your thoughts and help.

IF the inverter is real close to the batteries, you might be able to go up to a 500-600 watt. But most likely you will have to double or triple the wire size. I would recommend a pure sine wave type, as you can get those for about the same price nowadays.

To give you some perspective, my 2000 w inverter has about 3 ft of wire that has 1/2 inch of copper wire. If it was 6 ft away it would need to be even bigger gauge wire.

I don't know your year or model#, but ours has the Dimensions inverter built into the kitchen cabinet, just above the drawers. You'd think it was easy to reach but it isn't. Also, the small (IMHO) wiring goes to the battery cables on the solenoid, not even to the battery itself, so....
Do yourself a favour and get a bigger, PSW and install it in the outer storage compartment as close to the batteries as possible using huge cable (future-proof).
Work safely!
