OK, I give up -- trying to solve the rattle on our dinette table that is. It's one that folds down from the street side after folding the single leg underneath it to allow the dinette and associated seat cushions to be used as a bed. We used it once as bed and now cannot get rid of the rattle caused by looseness between the table and the interlocking wall flanges. The geometry is a bit strange so I must be doing something wrong. Have I just overstressed the supports and need to bend them back in some direction?

Paul,

Without photos showing the problem it is hard to say. The dinette is on a swinging arm and the proceedure to put it down is to lift the end of the table with the leg, after releasing the catch on the leg and folding it up, until it pulls away from the wall and then let it gently down while being guided by the arms.

To put it back up you lift the end of the table with the leg while pulling it away from the wall and flip the end with the arms up and then press towards the wall. Continue lifting the end with the leg past level until the table slides into the wall braket and then lower to engage. Ir there is a wooden trim above the table where it meets the wall make sure the table is centered in it side to side so it will fit properly.

Without any further info it may be that you simply did not get the table top engaged in the wall braket when you put it back up however you may have pulled the bracket away from the wall trying to put it up or down and loosened the mounting screws.

Check your manual for the most up to date proceedure for raising and lowering the dinette.

Hi Paul. I had the same problem. I "fixed" it by applying a strip of "camper tape" (the foam tape, sticky on one side, that is used to seal between the bed rails and a topper on a pickup truck) over the bracket that is mounted to the wall. This took out the slop and made a nice snug fit. The tape can be found at almost any hardware store, in the weatherstripping department. Any wide, thin stick-on weather stripping would probably work. I just happened to have some leftover camper tape.

Thanks for the hint ChasA. I stuck a slender twig in that area but it didn't really solve the problem. As you say, if I can close up the "U" channel a bit the rattle should end.

Thanks for the question - it answered ours. A question? How do you like your Toad by Blue Ox?
We also are towing a Honda CRV. Thanks.
