Hi all,
What a helpful place this is! Here's my question:
Can I tow my 98 Sienna minivan (5000 lbs including tow dolly) with my new-to-me 98 Winnebago Chieftain 36WL, with the Cummins 5.9 and Allison 6-speed? The GVWR is 24,000 (and a bit) and the GCWR is close to 31000 lbs. Or, does anyone know where I can find the specs online? Tried Winnie and Freightliner, but can't find them there.
I ask because the Owner's manual (which covers the Ford and GM chassis, as well as the Freightliner) says the max. is 3500 lbs. I'm sure I read somewhere that I could tow 5000 lbs., and, when I checked the Winnie website for the 2007 similar chassis, it said 10000 lbs. The hitch appears capable and I would think that a diesel would be able to tow more than 3500 lbs.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Richard

Richard,
HERE"S the link to the 1998 brochure for your unit from the Winnebago web page.
It is a pdf file so you'll need to have Acrobat or some other way to read pdf files...

Hi rebelsbeach,
Thanks so much for the link to the brochure!
Unfortunately, although I found the GVWR, it does not state the GCWR or how much the unit will tow.
I will phone Winnie tomorrow.
Thanks again,
Richard
