We have recently purchased a new Vectra and was thinking of removing the dishwasher in exchange for more drawer space. We would have very little need for this since where we go most of the time we use paper or plastic.

Has anyone done this? What opportunities did you run into?

Thanks,

Are you going to do this after delivery? If so will the dealer due the change out? Will the cabinetry match up? Personally I would leave it alone and store pots or something in it. You never know if you have a cocktail party or something it could come in handy...

I'm thinking about the opposite swap. As such I'd be interested in your take out, if you have no plans for it.

As far as the possibility of doing it, it shouldn't be hard. EVERYTHING in our coaches is built to print. Winnebago can tell you exactly what parts you'll need to make it look like it was never there.

(I should mention I have an Adventurer. I'd be putting it in under the fridge. My take out parts wouldn't help you, even if they did match, or I'd offer them right up.)

Edit:
Gosh, just remembered there are two different types of dishwashers used in Vectras depending on the model. I'd need a drawer type one, the 18" wide full height one would never fit in mine.

This dishwasher won't fit underneath your refrigerator either.

Most places we will be camping we do not have access to water because usually we are on a college campus for football games in the fall.

I take that to mean it's not the drawer type? It won't be a small task making the drawer style fit, but my preliminary measurements say it'll work, but I will have to raise the fridge about an inch.

Thanks,
Tim.

(The drawer styles are very efficient by the way, using only about 2 gallons of water. We probably use that much washing and rinsing them ourselves.)

Sprint,

We are in the process of taking out the drawers and installing the dishwasher! The cabinet parts were ordered from Winnebago. The space where the dishwasher is installed now is a little wider than the actual drawer width. You would need to replace the styles and install all of the neccesary hardware for the drawer slides. The cabinetry is easily unscrewed and rescrewed together (with a bit of patience). As posted before the dishwasher uses very little water and is more efficient than doing a similar size load of dishes by hand.

Good luck.
