Does synthetic oil help reduce power steering and differental noise?

I'm wondering if anyone has had any luck using synthetic oils to help reduce the whine coming from Workhorse/Chev Power Steering systems. I have read that some replacement units still make the noise. Mine is annoying, but it works fine. Will a higher grade lubricant make a difference?

Also, I suppose that driveline whine is typical in heavy chassis. Having driven a rear-engine diesel for the past 10 years, I notice a constant whine under acceleration in my Workhorse chassis. I have check and lubed the drive line zerks, etc. and I'm told that the noise is not excessive. I is nearly absent when first starting down the road in the morning, so I'm assuming it may be more noticeable when the lubricant is hot.

Thanks

The short answer is "YES" regarding the power steering. I replaced the stock fluid with Royal Purple synth PS fluid which eliminated the noise from the pump.

Check out the Workhorse section there have been a few threads covering these issues in detail
