So other Winnebago owners, what is the secret to getting the #$%@ doghouse cover open?? On my Sunrise I can see a latch mechanism around a large bolt from the wheelwell on the underneath of the cover and found a small hole in the carpet on the back center of the cover up top...no matter what I tried from inside the coach to get the release to work I couldn't get it open through that small hole I'm sure it's something asininely easy (I hope) but after wrestling underneath it changing the fuel filter for 2 hours, my patience was pretty much shot trying to start on the spark plugs for a changeout...

You need an allen wrench to release the latch at the rear center. Keep pushing, It must enter there. In addition, if the cover has never been removed, you probably have a series of sheet metal screws located near the floor line near the front raised section. I have forgotten their exact location, but if you scrape the carpet at that location ( junction with lower dash extention) with something like a putty knife, you will be able to find them...Frustration indeed...rgr....

That allen wrench is 5/16''. it is an over center latch. turn it about 3/4 turn ccw to unlatch. ditto on the screws. there are probably at least 2. you may be able to use a magnet to find the screws. i didn't reinstall the screws as my cover fits very well in front without them.

SUCCESS! found the allen wrench in the "bag o' stuff" from the prev owner and found the 2 screws up on each side...still wasn't exactly fun but it's done with now...surprised on how many deposits were on all of the old plugs, glad I changed them out along with the plug wires and the fuel filter...definitely going to run fuel system cleaner through it on a regular basis

FWIW:

You might consider using a product called SeaFoam which is a fuel additice/cleaner. I've used it in all my gas motors; cars/truck/lawnmower/boat and my diesels when I had them. On the MH, I put (1) can(16oz) per 25 gals in the gas tank in the spring/summer/fall. You can by this stuff at Wally World/NAPA.
