According to the owners manual there is a hex nut that holds the doghouse down and to gain access to the motor to change the air filter it says to loosen the nut and remove the doghouse. I have looked but cannot find where this hex nut is suppose to be. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

All of the ones I have seen are not a nut but are a hex recess. I don't remember the size of the Allen wrench (hex wrench) but maybe someone will post it. It can be a little difficult to locate it since it is below a hole in the carpet and not easily seen.
This is a picture of mine with a magic marker stuck in the hole.

Thanks, Clay. It took some looking but I found it. It was covered up pretty good with the carpet.

You may or may not also have (1) phillips head screw on each side towards the very top.

I have a 2003 Itasca. I use a 5/16" allen wrench to unscrew bolt for doghouse. It is at location in picture above in reply by Clay L.

One thing I forgot to mention is that the hex wrench only has to turn either 1/2 or 1/4 turn to unlatch. I don't remember which.
