Dometic Awning

I have a 2015 Vista 30T with the factory installed Dometic aluminum wrapped awning. When extending the awning, often times the awning tube will begin to unwrap, but the arms don't extend outward. It seems that the struts might not be strong enough. When this happens, I have to manual pull the arms out a little bit, then it will unfurl properly. Has anyone else had this problem?

There are rubber "kickers" that are available to help in the initial start. Once the awning unwraps from the cover, it'll continue on out. They're very nice but in speaking as an RV tech, they're a genuine PITA. I may have some in my leftover parts cabinet.

I'm not good at posting pictures on this forum so forgive me. They are a rubber strap with cleats that wrap around the ends of the tube just outside the fabric, yet under the aluminum wrap.

I had the same problem. Last year at GNR I had Winnebago fix it. The "kicker" Ray speaks of was installed backwards. They turned it over and it has worked correctly since then.
