My two keys will no longer turn the lock for the door handle. (The dead-bolt works fine.)

Has anyone had this problem on their ’04 Adventurer and if so, how did you remedy it

I thought I’d ask here first before I operate. The last thing I want is a handful of parts to fall on the ground when I take it apart

Thanks...

I am also interested in hearing about this as my 05 is starting to give me trouble.

I've had a stubborn lock on my coach and found graphite lubrication loosened things up again.

I've had mine apart for a diiferent reason, unless something is broke nothing should fall out.

Remove the plastic tip for dead bolt latch. Remove the inside screws and both halves can be removed. The outside half needs to be removed at an angle, just pull slightly on the verticle edge facing forward.

Removing the whole mechanism is not too hard and parts can be bought at many camping supply stores. As I recall, it requires a special star shaped driver to get into the unit. I just bought one for about $3 or $4 and still have it if something happens on the road. I have a 2004 Itasca 33V, but I think most RV's use the same type of mechanism.

I had the "key won't turn in the lock" problem on my 2004 Journey about a year ago. It was on the bottom lock, not the dead bolt upper. I compared my key to the wife's hardly used key, and there was a big difference in the wear of the ridges on my key compared to her key. The keys are brass, I believe.

Long story short, I ordered new keys from Lichtsinn's and my key problem went away. They will ask you for the key number at the base of the key on the shank.

Good luck.
