Castrol dot4 has higher boiling point than dot 3.

We changed to DOT4 in our 2001 Adventurer when we flushed the brake system. Our 2013 chassis uses DOT5.1

My experience with dot 5.1 in my motorcycles is that it goes bad in less than a year. Some antilock brake components require 5.1 due to its lower viscosity.
5.1 mixes OK with dot 3 and 4.
Do not confuse with dot 5.0 silicone fluid.

I just got through having my entire braking system flushed and re-filled with BG products and they said in the event in the future I have to add some brake fluid, add DOT 4.

They also said, on the radiator, to ALWAYS use Motorcraft GOLD anti-freeze in my V-10. Never anything else. This came from one the best Maintenance shops in the Houston area...Beckwith's Car Care.
