Double face tape?

I repaired and replaced the front wheel lip on a 1999 Vectra grand tour.
The piece was held on by 2 screws and about 25 feet of double faced tape. After cleaning and preparing the part I used the super expensive tape used to hold body trim on autos, and new fasteners. After 2 months as I was driving the wheel lip blew off pulling the screws through the mounts. Has anyone tried using 5200 or 4000 to glue these parts on instead of double faced tape? Any other ideas other than a half dozen screws?
Thanks, Cork

Whatever adhesive you use the key is cleaning the surface pristinely with film remover which is 100% pure alcohol.
