On a number of occasions, we have had multiple kitchen drawers extend during turns. The drawers are on the driver's side and will sometimes extend all the way out during hard left turns such as in-town intersections and exit ramps. The speed during these turns has not been excessive. We had it back to the dealer once and they supposedly tightened the latches. But they continue to extend at times.

Has anyone else had a similar situation? Has anyone come up with a way to lock the drawers so they will not open on their own?

Thanks for any help you may have.

Something like this should probably do the trick.

Try a magnetic cabinet door latch on each drawer.

I had the large drawer under the stovetop come open a few times so what I did was purchase an additional latch from my dealer. I then removed the existing latch from the center of the drawer and moved it over to one side so that I could install the new latch on the other side. With the two latches in place I haven't had any more problems with that drawer.

I purchased several C3- grabber latches that solved the problem. Cost was less than $4 each. www.southco.com Rv dealers want $10 each for the same latch. Easy DIY project.

Here is another vote for the C3- grabber latches.

We throughout our MH and they just work. Easy to fit yourself and not expensive if you buy them at the right place.

I put velcro up & down on both ends on a few drawers and had no more problems. You cannot see the velcro when the drawer is closed. And on a couple of really heavy drawers I added a second latch. FYI the latches on the drawers come in at least two different pull-strengths ...I buy the stronger ones.

I took a much cheaper approach for drawers and cabinet doors.

Go to any tire shop and ask if they have an old inner tube. Or, go to your favorite Wally-World and buy a bicycle tire for under 2 bucks. Cut it into about 1/2 to 3/4 inch strips. Then, figure a length you need and cut it. Figure into the lenght a knot. After cutting, tie the knot in the end buy just doubling over and through. You now have a bungee cord. Slip the end over one know, wrap around a few times and pull the knot through the end. For Drawers, just hook the home made bungee through two handls and hook the know through the other end (loop)

This works for electrical cords, hoses, ropes, and just about anything else you can think of that you can use a bungee on. And YOU make the length you want.

I went to the Southco web site and they have a lot of products. Do you have a part number for the latch that you used?

Southco is the company that makes them. I should have given where they can be purchased online.
Aero-Space Southwest, Inc.

www.aerospacesw.com
Part # C3-305
This is just one of their retailers others can be found on the Southco website

Like Paul, I'm a Velcro guy....I cut thin strips of the industrial strength and place on each side of the drawer. Doesn't show and hold really well. Even my wife approves!
Give me Velcro, Eternabond, and Gorilla tape and I can fix anything!

I use the heavy duty velcro also ----- it holds well and you can't see when the drawer is shut

A lot depends on the location of the drawer.. I use a bunch of bungie cords but on the main "Stack" of 4 drawers I got a cople of large "Eye bolts" (Lag type) and screwed them in (After drilling pilot holes) into the face board between drawers 1&2 and drawers 3&4.

I drop a dowel rod down the eye and those drawers stay closed.

The eye bolts anchor the bungies for the drawer under the oven and for a cbinet as well.

I used the 5lb Southco latch from here for the small drawers and the 10lb latch from here for the big drawers. These were the cheapest prices on the internet at the time.
