Driven half mad by screen door

Hi,

The screen door on my 2008 Itasca Latitude is damn noisey, it shakes and rattles.

I have tried door/window draft foam to no avail.

Winnebago reckons the screen door maybe be bent. I am half tempted to remove the screen door.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Have you found out exactly where the rattle is coming from? I have the same problem and just wadded up some plastic trash bags to shove behind the screen door sliding cover that goes over the latch...quiet as can be now. (The real fix would be to re weld the track so it's firm in the frame but who's going to do that?). Have someone sit close by when you drive to pin point the area that rattles.

Screen door

I used black silicone from harbor freight around the panel where the slide is and that made a big difference.

On mine, there are several rubber "bumpers" on the side of the screen that push up against the door when the two are pushed together. Several of mine were old enough that the rubber had turned hard and thus was squeaking, always sounded like sneakers on a gym floor but worse.

Only other things I've noticed, door needs to be shut tight, both locks on and the "slider" on the screen door slid all the way shut or guaranteed noise........

Hi Blastvale,

The rubber bumpers on mine are a bit worn, I did put some draft strips over it. I will get new pads. I only ever lock one lock. Will try both :-)

I used clear caulking around the lower panel screen protector as it was loose and seemed to set up a harmonic that was making me nuts.
Also, I swing the screen door handle to the closed/locked position while driving. That seems to keep the door from making a rattling noise. The combination of both fixes has worked well for several years.
I tried to tighten the door handle and that did not work at all.
