Dual antennas?

I recently purchased a '06 Adventurer. I'm wondering what the dual antennas are used for, in the very center of the coach roof. They are the typical rubber antennas usually associated with high profile RV's. The rig appears to be all stock with no modifications. The antennas are only two or three inches apart. It also has a rubber radio antenna on the front that obviously is for the radio. In addition to the XM radio antenna, there is also a metal antenna that appear to be for CB usage, although the rig has no CB. Although the rig takes on the appearance of a mobile broadcasting rig, with all the duframuses sticking up on top, I would like to know their usage. Thanks

Larry;

First I would like to welcome you to iRV2 and if you have not already done so I would like to encourage you to go up to the New Member Check In and introduce your self so more of our members get to know you.

To try and answer your questions. Many Winnebago MHs come with CB Radio antenna and 12V power lead factory installed so I believe you are correct on that. On my 03 Chieftain I have 3 rubber antennas on my roof. One is for dash radio, one is for radio in outside entertainment center, and third one is for radio in bed room. I hope I have helped you.

Don

Thanks. That answers it. I suppose some folks still use CB's when traveling with groups, but the cell phone seems to have taken it's place. We do have a bedroom radio and an outside radio, so I'm sure that's what the two in the center are for. Thanks again.

Don't neglect the possible use of a CB. Truckers along with their salty language are a great help in traffic jams, location of "Bears" and it is not uncommon for the truckers to lead you out of tight places and give a heads up to fuel stops anf places to eat. They also have good waether bands, not like the dash radio.

If you go on a caravan it is mandatory to have one. Cell phones are great but do have some drawbacks. To find your antenna , ground and hot wire look under your dash, probably on the left of the steering wheel in a baggy.
