If the turn signal works, the ground probably is ok. Try testing with a volt meter or test lamp from the turn signal socket ground to the tail light hot lead. If that works it is a ground problem with the tail light. If it doesn't work it is in the hot lead. IO would check the tail light in the trailer connector and see if it works there. Do you have the Bargman tail lights?
