My electric door lock on my entry door stopped working. Neither the keypad or wireless remote will operate the door lock. When I operate the wireless remote the patio lights come on but the door does not lock. The wireless remote will also operate the basement door locks. What to check? Electrical connection? Door lock motor?

The easiest thing to check would be the copper contacts near the botton of the door on the forward side. Try cleaning them with scotch brite. If those are clean my next guess would be the door lock solonoid located near the door handle behind the plastic cover. It could be a bad connection at the solonoid or bad solonoid.

Jim,

Thanks so much. I polished the door contacts with a Magic Eraser and it now works perfectly.

At times, mine will quit working. I have polished them before with a cleaner and then they stopped again. What I have found that works the best for me is to take OOOO (4 ought) steel wool and polish them. Takes all of the tarnish off and it lets them make better contact due to the mildly roughed up surface. Don't use anything any more abrasive on them. I keep a piece of the steel wool under the lift up steps at the front of my MH for that purpose.
