Electric Step Replacement

While buying gas, my steps were struck by a car trying to squeeze by. I did a temporary repair with a bolt but the steps are not solid and I would like to replace them. The actual repair seems pretty simple; getting the right parts at a reasonable price seems more challenging.

Has any one ever replaced them? Where did you get them? How much? Camping World has them for $400 and that seems steep. An RV boneyard might have them if I could find one.

Some years back, I changed out a broken set and depending on the labor cost, would probably let someone else do it. My kness don't like that concrete, but it isn't a hard 'do-it-yourseler'...

You didn't say, but did the car stop and offer to repair, and I've always wondered, who's at fault, if anyone? The steps are so low that cars probably don't even seem them...

My MoHo is parked in gravel. Before working underneath, I put down cardboard to protect knees and other stuff.

The person who hit the steps stopped (he was gassing up his car) and was very unpleasant. He told me that it was my fault that he hit the steps since they were extended. I contended that he still should not run into my steps. Basically, I detected a no win situtation that would have been a major hassle with an unknown outcome and let it go. I had a name and address but no good was going to come of it. I am not really sure what the legalities were but it really didn't make a lot of difference in practical terms.

Oh, if you tell me the model of Kwikee step you have, the width of step, distance between when open etc, I can swing by there next week and see what they have available. Digital pics would help too of the step, mounting etc. so I have a visual indicator when I am rummaging...er researching their inventory.

On the open door analogy, you are quite correct. I even used it at the time. The elderly 'gentleman' who bashed the steps just wasn't there. I let it go, perhaps too easily but saw nothing but hassle pursuing it.

I measured the steps and they are 24" wide and 11" deep. It is a two step model. The mounting plate has 4 bolts.
