Hi Guys......The two or three times I've encountered problems you guys have had a solution. So, here goes; I have had an "03 Journey for about a year. Just recently I have heard a very loud engine sound while driving. I finally pin-pointed it as coming from the "vent" that's on the left side of the dash.(The one that's on the vertical side of dash facing the driver's side window). You can cover the vent with a towel, etc. and eliminate the sound. I don't know if this vent is for ventilation for the dash electronics or not. Anyone ever had this problem? And, if so how did you correct it? Many thanks!

First thing to check is to make sure you have the volume turned down on the rear monitor. The port you describe sounds like the speaker port for the monitor. If the volume is turned up, you will hear the engine noise.

Thanks Pusherman....That is exactly what it is......We had not even used the monitor audio and it had somehow been slightly turned on.......Sometimes you can't see the forest for the trees!

The best fix is when you can turn the dial down and the problem goes away!!!!

Happy I could help.

That is funny, may all your problems be adjustable with the volume control. Usually when I hear an abnormal engine noise I turn the radio volume up!!
