Entry door handle

Hi everyone,
We have a 2007 Meridian SE.The problem we are having is the outside door handle will not operate and thus not being able to get inside. When I get thru the window the inside door handle works ok and will open the door.To correct this I can have the outside handle in the close position, and operate the inside handle to the open position and the open the ousted handle.the outside then works ok until it wants to going back to being jammed.
Thanks for your help if you have had this condition and have repaired

This was a problem I had with my 2003 Adventurer. There is a vertical pin attached to the outside handle. At the bottom of the pin is a cam, welded on, at a 90 deg angle. This cam actuates the locking mechanism when you pull the handle. Over time, this cam will bend downward. Eventually it bends enough where it doesn't hit the mechanism to actuate the lock. Sometimes, you can insert a small screwdriver under the outside handle and pry it up to engage. I had to take mine apart, and using a crescent wrench, bend the cam back up into position. Be careful not to break the weld.

There are adjusting screws behind the black rubber boot in the door jam, side of the door. Just below the latch. Remove the rubber boot and insert Phillips screw driver in and adjust. Have someone inside so you can open the door until you get it right.
just adjust a quarter of a turn at a time or so.
