This morning Dave Root, of Dave Root RV and Glass Repair in Bend, OR, and his helper, Nate, replaced the window frame of an Atwood window in our motorhome. He did a clean, neat job at a very reasonable price and I highly recommend him and his work.
Although the bulk of his work is repairing/replacing "foggy windows", those which have lost their dual pane seal, he does all types of work on windows in all types of RVs. In our RV two pairs of "resting shoulders" in the sides of the perimeter frame of our vertical sliding window had all broken off so the window would not stay open in either postition. I worked with Sue Phillips at Atwood Mobile Products in Elkhart, IN, and she shipped a new frame to our home.
As part of a trip to the Northwest I made an appointment with Dave for the work. He removed the entire window, removed the glass, and re-installed it in the new frame, and put the window back in the RV, all in about 1.25 hours. The total cost of frame and labor was slightly more than 1/3 of a new window as quoted by the Winnebago Factory.
Dave is very pleasant and easy to work with. He's located less than a mile from a Thousand Trails Park, a few miles west of Hwy 97, in southern Bend, OR. He will even come to where you are staying bringing his trailer/shop with him as there are also other RV parks in the area.
Thank you, Dave!
