Exhaust damage

On the MHs with the ULSD diesel engines, due to the higher heat, they have intalled a new style exhaust tip (diffuser). The tip is rectangular and not chromed. On my 08 Horizon 40TD the tip does not extend far enough and the heat damaged the surrounding fiberglass piece on the side of the coach where the exhaust sticks out. Winnebago's fix was to have that piece replaced with a metal one. I believe I will ultimately have a damaged metal piece to replace. The metal will probably hold up to the heat but I doubt the paint will. Has anyone else had similar experiences with their exhaust?
Also, I attempted to just extend the tip by loosening the bolts and pulling it out one or two inches. Didn't work. The tip is already at the bitter end of the exhaust pipe.

We have the same thing on our MH and have 6K miles on it, drove in some very hot weather and climbing mountains and are not having any problems yet. Hope they get it figured out for you
