Extended Warranty... Winnebago's... or ?

My dealership wants to sell me an extended warranty package. They say Winnebago's EW is one of the best in the industry. They said there is only one other vendor that has comparable coverage, etc., but they won't tell me the name. Anyone have a guess?

Extended warranties are a huge profit maker for the dealer. If you take the amount you were going to spend on one and put it in the bank, five years from now you will still have a large amount of it there.

rk911 has suggested a good way to self-warranty your coach. Save your money.

We have GoodSam and have received good value every time. This is our third used coach and the warranty has paid out more then we spent. We just has the large driver side slide out repaired and the bill was several hundred more than what we paid for the warranty.

I like the piece of mind and so far they have worked for us. If I ever bought a coach with no slides or levelers, maybe I would skip the warranty. On our Newmar DP the warranty fixed the diesel generator twice, the dash air and a few other items including the banks tuner.

Hopes this helps..

Dave

The dealer makes a commission from the sale. Find the name of the actual guarantor and deal directly with them-if they sell the Extended Service Contract directly. It is NOT a warranty, it more closely resembles a health insurance policy.
That said, the ESC we purchased from Good Sam was, for us, a good deal. It is an exclusionary contract, meaning everything that is NOT covered is listed, by omission everything not listed IS covered.
It you decided to purchase an ESC, be sure to add on the seals and gaskets rider; otherwise if a gasket or seal fails, causing major engine, transmission, diff, etc. damage, that is considered consequential damage from the failed gasket/seal, and is not covered.
wholesalewarranties.com is an independent sales rep and will find you the best ESC to fit your requests, at the best price.

Winnebago has partnered with Coachnet for their Service Plan (Winnebago Extended Protection). Once you've taken possession of your coach, give them a call, PH # 855-613-8308. Wholesale Warranties is the other company that has a good reputation.

There are good reasons for self insuring. I went with the Coachnet product. For me, the complex, not bullet proof slides on newer units and fancy electronics worried me. Having the service plan reduces that anxiety a bit. I haven't used it yet and I hope I don't have to.

There is one aspect of both of the plans I mentioned that I don't like. Scheduled maintenance has to be done at an authorized service center. I change my own motor oil in the engine and the genny and that is at odds with the terms of the plans.

And one minor benefit is the plan includes Coachnet Roadside Assistance for the term of the plan.

All the best. Bob
