Exterior Mod

So, I don't know if any of you have made changes to your exterior but I am working on one. Have not done it yet, but working on materials, color etc.

The grill on the front of our Vista 31KE is the cheap aluminum with a matte finish. The matte is ok but its just blah.....

So.. thinking of making the grill black. Want to use a spray on black used in pickup truck beds so it will be resistant to weather and chipping etc.

Let me know your thoughts... pics of before and what after might look like (pics are downloaded from internet, but it is the same as my paint scheme.

zekethomas,
The "Black" thing has prevailed in numerous sections of our automotive lives. Black wheels, flat black cars/trucks/motorcycles, and more over the years. The semi-recent craze is to have black wheels on most of the pickups you see, Jeeps, and many more. Well, to each his own. Both the wife and I are not fans of all this black. To me, that black grill on your coach looks like the grill is MISSING and, all you see is an opening. Again, don't get too offended, it's just a matter of opinion.

I guess I'm (and the wife) still kind of old school. We both like some "shine" in our vehicles. Probably die with that motto. Oh well.

Great Thought... the aluminum grill currently is a dull grey... the picture does not show it very well... I had not thought that it would look missing. The other option is to make the dull aluminum "more silver" ... and give it a better look. Currently there is no "shine" as you say .... just trying to make it look better.

For something that is reversable in case you don't like it, try plasti dip. It is a spray on vinyl covering that can be peeled off without damaging the orginal finish. The 20 somethings are using it on their wheels and some cases the entire car. Just a quick look and there are some golds that might tie into the striping on your MH.

Paint it black and then polish the leading edges. That would make it pop!
Also keep you busy for a while.
Happy Glamping.

Same boatq

I have the same problem. I just do not like that front grille's color.

I'm thinking of trying to match the Beige on the MH and make the grille look like it just went away as it blends in. I don't think you'll see the parts behind the grille with it painted any color.

I recently did something similar but one of the hammered finish spray paints. Didn't go black but picked a brownish green color that closer matched the coach (your RV is much lighter than ours). I did it because the previous owner had put a cross in marker lights on the grill and it was there long enough that you could see the outline on the grill after he removed it.
