The external Radio on our 2004 Winnebago Sightseer 35 N turns on by itself. After positevly insuring the Radio is off it continually turns on by itself with the volume low. Since it is out of warranty my solution was to install an on/off switch at the radio location. If interested in my solution photos at: http://picasaweb.google.com/sight04

I had the same problem with my 2003 Suncruiser and I solved the problem exactly like you did. My dealer would never acknowledge there was a problem. The radio was a Jenson

I had the same problem on my 04 Brave. Did the on/off switch to solve the issue.

Is this an item with Jensen. It really is a poor radio, tuning is almost impossible, especially if you have to tune to a Sirius Radio frequency like 88.1

I havn't done it yet, so cant give exact details, but on my "to-do" list is to install a "door jamb" type switch, activated by the exterior door. Door closed, circuit "open".. As soon as I "get er done", I'll post details...rgr...

I thought I had a ghost in my 2005 Horizon and did the kill switch. Dont like loosing my presets but better than running your batts down.

Hmmm..now I realize I haven't been crazy after all. My outside radio is a Sony but I have found it turned on several times. A door switch sounds like a great fix.

We've found ours on a few times too. The first time it was circus trying to figure out what was making that noise. The radio wasn't on any station so we kept hearing a loud hissing in the bedroom area. Took us HOURS to locate it. Now when we hear it...we know right away what it is!

Ours has done it, too! And the reception is terrible. I pulled the unit out to check the antenna, but it was plugged in. I guess I'll need to check iton the roof, also.

Same problem with the radio in the outside entertainment center, but I can't figure why it only happens some of the time....Figured some day I'd put an inline switch on it. Hope you folks show some pix or just explain your solutions (like type of switch and location), that would be great. Anyone know why this happens intermittently?

I also had the same problem. Replaced radio with another brand. No more problems. Easy to replace.

I am glad I found this thread. I thought I was going crazy. My exterior radio seems to only come on by itself after I turn on the battery disconnect switch to reconnect the coach batteries.

Bingo. I noticed my external radio was on yesterday. You gave me the reason. Thanks.

What a relief it is

I am so glad I found this forum today. Now my wife will stop telling me I'm nuts and need to stop drinking so much. We were not sure.... was it a ghost? does my neighbor have a key? Maybe I should lay off the booze!!!!!

Thanks for the advice going to install a separate switch.

Take a look at posts #11 and #13 in this thread Radio turns on by itself (old topic but new info). They explain what's happening and how to fix it without losing any of your presets or other settings.
