We use a step exercise step that we bought in the sporting goods section of Walmart. It has two different heights. A friend has one with three heights. Very stable. That hanging step would add to the leverage on the electric step causing more stress.

This step is very strong, durable, stable, safe and easy to put in place or store. We have been using it for over a year. I have seen others, but none hold a stick to this step. And.... It only weighs 8.25 lbs

I also use the step from Camping World.

Another thought - I don't know which motorhome you have, but you can go to Kwikee and buy an electric step with one more step than what you have unless you already have a triple step. I have a 2006 Journey, and my wife has a hard time climbing steps. The Journey only had a single step, and I bought a double step from Kwikee. It fit in the same mounting holes and hooked up the same electrically.

Just make sure that you have enough clearance between the extended step and ground. The Kwikee website has all the necessary dimensions.

This is not the cheapest solution, but it worked for us.
