Fiberglass delamination at stowage doors

I evidently do not know how to search these sites for my problem. I can't find any threads on this issue and I am sure they must be in here. I have a 2000 Winnebago Adventurer 35U. On three of the outside storage area doors I have bumps that are evidence of delamination. I asked my local dealer what it would cost to fix them and they told me it would be a lot cheaper to just buy new doors??

I can fix anything if I have the knowledge, so can anyone share past repair experiences on how to fix these. One of the doors is at the closure for the hot water tank area. Another is at the door over the generator. The other is just a normal storage door on the driver side. They are 12-15 inches in diameter.

Any help or if you can point me to other posts I would appreciate it. Thanks Larry

I have been meaning to get around to this issue on my 2000 Bounder. My issue is the clearcoat peeling and yellowing.

I have read many many discussions on this topic but this e-how article is the best simple set of instructions I have seen for delam and clearcoat issues.

This is the result of a title search of the Winnebago forum for "delamination". Hopefully something in here will help. If it does, let us know, I have some areas of delamination on my rig but I have a few other things I need to get to first.

i cant believe that ehow article wants you to cut out the delaminated section of fiberglass! NO! thats nuts. there are better ways to fix the issue than ruining the look of the rv with a fiberglass resin patch. like: remove the trim around the delam and peel back the skin, remove any rotted wood, let it dry out, replace the wood with water-proofed wood, and glue the skin back on. it may be a bit involved, but you have not destroyed the look of the panel with a patch that will likely crack at the edges or need painting, etc.

Fiberglass delamination at stowage doors

I didn't see anything on the thread link to delaminations. I think I will go ahead and start removing the panels. Anyone done this before?? Do you remove all of the exterior panel? In doing that, what is the difficulty level of getting that panel off without damaging it? I know one thing for sure, when I do this, I am going to photograph each and every step along the way to allow others to see if this is the way to go or not. Thanks for the help.

Sorry I was not more help. I have yet to do mine, but from what I've read so far, I was leaning towards drilling holes and injecting epoxy. I wish you luck. Let us know how it goes.
