I would like to mount an extra fire extinguisher on the exterior wall behind the drivers seat. What kind of material can I expect to find there? I am trying to figure out what kind of fasteners to use, molly bolts, wood screws, or plastic inserts? Would velcro be better? The extinguisher weights about 10 pounds. Thanx for any and all suggestions.

Wayne I have yet to do anything like that in my rig, but in my past campers I found these plastic inserts called Cobra Panel Drillers at Lowes, they worked really good and the Door panel ones were short enough that they didn't poke against the outside fiberglass panels either.
They looked like this, just shorter and thicker

On my coach that would be the slide out wall. I think you could use wood screws to mount the extimguisher bracket. Just be sure that the extinguisher sits on the floor and you should be OK. I just got my extinguisher inspected today as a matter of fact. I took it to the fire supply store just around the corner from me. It passed, so that was good. I also carry a couple of extras in the cargo bays. I've been meaning to mount one in the LP bay.

I have some of those in my garage. I wonder just how thick the typical exterior wall is.

I would sit it on the floor, and attach to the wall with self-adhesive velcro ... quick, simple, effective.

I agree with AFChap. That is exactly what I did with my big extingusher right behind the passenger seat.

Plain old sheet metal screws work great in the typical interior blown plastic parts. Velcro also works really well. Be sure and use alcohol to clean the surface before sticking the Velcro. Allow the Velcro to 'cure' for 24 hours before giving it a heavy load.

There's a heavy duty Velcro product line called
"Velcro Extreme". Larger loops...and hooks.
