Firestone Air Bag Installation

Hello All, I'm installing Firestone Air bags (2070) on the front of my 2000 Adventurer 37U and have run into a bit of a problem. On the passenger side the bag is only about 1.5" away from the Banks Headers. I'm thinking this is too close. If I move the mounting bolts to another hole the bag is misaligned which I don't think is a good thing either. Anyone have any ideas ???

How about making a heat sheild to keep the heat away from the bag

I was going to try a shield but a rubber bag an 1.5" from a hot header pipe is still very close don't you think.

Is the 1.5" different than the original bag clearance?
There is a sort of heat wrap available for headers; check w/outfits that sell junk to hot rodder's (maybe Summit Racing or Eastwood?).

I'm trying to improve the last bit of banging on those bridge transitions. The Koni shocks made quite a difference. There also was a slight sag in the rear of the coach so I'm installing air bags on the rear also.

There is a lot of controversy about header ( exhaust ) wrapping. It is really tough on headers and may void warranty - need to check with Banks. A lot of racers prefer the ceramic coating ( Jet-hot ) option. I'd speak with Banks / get their recommendations, and also Firestone to see how much heat the bags can actually take. 1.5" sounds pretty risky to me.

which co did you buy them from. I am also buying front and rear from SD Trucking.

I bought mine from AdventureRV.net $244 for the fronts and $225 for the rears. Great prices on many big ticket items.

HELLO All, the air bags are installed. I managed with a slight change in the front bracket and some heat shielding on both the bag and exhaust to hopefully have the heat problem solved. I've taken a short drive and all seems to be working as advertised. I'll keep you posted with any new developments. Thanks for all you inputs.
