Flashing keyless entry pad

Our keyless entry pad has been flashing. Can anyone tell me what to do to make the flashing stop or what has caused the keyless entry pad to flash?

Is the Key Pad an Essex? Try wiping off the contacts on the door face with something a little abrasive and touching each number on the key pad 1 then 2 (same pad) 3 then 4 and so on do it at least twice. This has worked for me in the past.
