Fluorescent light lens

seems like the covers on my fluorescent lights spend half of their time on the floor. has anyone come up with a way to keep them in place? do they loose their stiffnes and need to be replaced?

I use a small dab of white silicone on each end of the lens after install, Keeps them in place and easy to remove.

i use a 3'' strip of 2'' wide clear packaging tape on each end. i make a tab on the base end for easy removal. i don't have to replace the tape every time i remove the lens.

I read one tip that sounds like it might work.
The guy used a piece of wood to hold the lens open a little and carefully heated it (the lens) with a heat gun. After it cooled he removed the wood spacer. The lens fit tightly then.

I got some velcro wrap things.. I loosened the fixture, stuck the end of the velcro wrap strips up under the edge of the fixture (two at each end) and tightened the fixture back up to hold the strips.. They hold the plastic up and actually don't look bad

Those are two examples of the kind of product I use (I use the 1st one but the 2nd one might be better)

Additional Off Topic but related item:

One of my fixtures the bulbs wore out (heck it's been over 5 years) I replaced the Thin-Light lamps with a couple of Generics I got at Wall Mart.. The size code FT-xx_) was the same but the color temp was way higher.. Wattage is the same... So long as the size code and wattage are identical they should work ... And work they do.

The higher color temp means it's a lot whiter light, much nicer in my opinion. More "Natural"

You can also get the flourescent bulbs at Lowe's at about way cheaper than most rv dealers.

No argument there Dajudge.... I got mine at either Wall-Mart or Home Depot (not sure which) and as you said "less than an RV-dealer"

I replaced mine. Didn't cost much and they never fell out again.
