Hi Ho: It is time to replace spark plugs on or 2000 Itasca Sncruiser. I would normally consider this a one-hour job and routine maintenance. However, I have found some threads about f53 engines of this vintage having serious problems with insufficient threads in the cylinder heads. Has anyone had problems with their spark plugs or replacing them?

Dirk

Whats the reason for changing the plugs. Most never need to be changed before 100K miles or decreased performance. When replacing, be sure not to over torque. What kind of plugs are you going to install.

Hi Ho Jerry: Thanks for the response. The reason is simply that we have almost 60,000 miles on the vehicle and Ford suggests replacement after 50,000. If there is really a problem with the head I will simply just wait until there is no other alternative. I have notices a decrease in mpg, but that could be due to a number of other things.

Plugs are cheap and normally easy to replace. I just consider that normal maintenance. I would use exacly the same as the OEM plugs, but I always use antiseize on the threads, especiall is the head is aluminum.
