Ford F53 Sightseer e Break release

I have been having trouble with the release to the Park break .Have to put it on to get the slide out. I just use my hand now to push it in so as to not push it down to hard. It still works but it rattles going down the road. Is there some kind of adjustment to tighten the cable or do I need a new one.

There is an adjustment at the other end of the cable at the parking brake assembly. Not sure that is your problem though.

Here's what the '03 service manual says about setting it. It's from the assembly section, so at the beginning of this procedure, it would be disconnected.

Set the adjusting clevis:
- Loosen the jam nut several turns.
- Position the parking brake lever in the applied position.
- Tighten or loosen the adjusting clevis until the adjusting clevis hole lines up with the parking brake lever hole, and then loosen the adjusting clevis 13 mm (0.5 inch).


Probably a good time to check the fluid level. There's a lot of info out there about doing that.
