In our 02 Journey, the fresh water tank drain valve isn't fully closing, and allows fresh water to leak out. There's a rather long cable that operates the opening and closing of this valve, the cable itself doesn't appear to be the problem. Once I gained access to the valve, I tried adjusting the cable, which didn't fix the problem. I can manually close the valve, which stops the leak, but it takes a bit of pressure to do so.
I'm thinking I may need to apply some sorta valve lubricant... I'm thinking a food grade lubricant could be applied, if I knew where to find it.
Has anyone else had and fixed this problem?

George,
Look for plumbers grease at you local hardware store, Lowes or Home Depot should have it. You would probably have to dissasemble the valve to do it right and since I am not familiar with this valve I can't really say that this is possible.
Let us know how you make out.
Regards,

Neil, thanks for the reply..
Operating the valve manually works for now.. We're heading out this weekend, so I decided to put off repairing the leaky valve ˜til I have more time to investigate how everything is assembled. The last thing I want to do is get in there and find the job is bigger than I expected and/or I need parts.

gMw, I would look at trying to remove your valve and bring it outside in the sunlight to work on it. It's not too unusual to hear of people finding small bits of plastic, chips, or drill turnings from the manufacturer's tank/pipe/valve installation. This debris can get caught in the valve seals (and it's another good reason to have a filter on the intake side of the water pump).
