I had a new converter installed on Monday. As I understand it, when I'm using shore power all the 12V stuff now runs off the house batteries rather than off the converter.

The (new) furnace works; the hot water tank works; all the lights work; but not the refer--no power there, no light on in the refer when the door is open.

Using the tester light, there is power to the circuit board at the back of the fridge.

So, I'm thinking the problem must be with the circuit board. Oh, there is no ammonia odour so I don't think the condenser has had it.

Any other thoughts on the possibilities?

TIA for your comments.

Ciao,

Doug

Doug,

You didn't mention the make or model of your fridge. Go to This Site and you can locate service manuals available for download for most Dometic and Norcold refridgerators. Each of the manuals has some trouble shooting procedures that may help you. Hopefully someone else with much more knowledge than I will be on to help also.

Open the black cover over the control board in back and check the fuse on the board. I have had that fuse blow before but I have also had to replace the control board too.

Hi Doug,

Thanks for the tip on the fuse. Also, I now feel more comfortable (misery loves friends )hearing that you've had to replace the circuit board.

And,Tom, thanks for the pointer to the site.

Ciao,

Doug

So, here's an update on the fridge that wouldn't work.

Went out this afternoon and thought, what the heck, I'll turn the main refere switch on and see what happens.

You guessed it--the light in the fridge came on and the propane burner for the fridge ignited.

That's good. What's not so good is the nagging question, do I have an internittent problem? Maybe the problem is with the major switch on the refer.

Ciao,

Doug
