HELP!! I have a 2005 Meridian Itasca 39f on a freightliner chasis. I have lost electrical power to the left hand turn signal/stop light at the seven pin trailer plug. All other connnections on the trailer plug work. I have checked all fuses that I can find. I cannot find any disconnection to the left hand wire underneath anywhere. It worked fine last time we used the motorhome. Any suggestion!!!!! would be greatly appriciated. Thank you, dtraveler

Look in a compartment just forward of the rear wheel well on the passengers side. You should find one that has several electrical boxes and maybe your converter/inverter/charger. There should be two boxes that are about 4x6 inches. One of those should have fuses in it and one of the fuse boxes will be for the 7 pin trailer plug. It will have several fuses, one for each function of the leads on the trailer plug.

Actually, I think you'll find the trailer plug wiring box inside the last 'compartment' on the driver's side. You'll need to remove a couple of screws in order to hinge up the 'door' and then you'll need to prop it open with something.

Still no luck finding the fuse box for the trailer plug. the only thing I find with fuses related to the trailer plug is in the front above the generator. Its one 30 amp. that says trailer power. Which I have replaced. I have aposeing slides in front that the compartments extened with the slides. only thing in the compartment for power on the drivers side is the power plug - converter/charger , auto generator change over box. Still looking for ideas.

We had a similar issue on our 2010 Tour and found it to be a Freightliner issue. As the prior posting noted, there is a control module (on our coach it was behind the panel near the left rear wheels) that handles the real trailer plug. Our module needed replacement and that took care of the issues.

Hope this helps.

I recently read here that some trailer plugs have screw connections in the plug itself that can come loose... Also, inspect the cable real closely. Usually the most exposed wiring takes the damage...

Freightliner chassis' do have a trailer module that has several relays in it, along with the fuse box for the trailer connectors. This isolates the coach lighting from the trailer. I have a Coachmen that I looked at for someone a few weeks ago and almost all of the fuses were blown. Put in new fuses and all worked fine. Just call Freightliner... give them your VIN number and they will tell you were to start looking for the trailer module and fuse box. That is what I did and the tech pointed me right to it.

Its not the plug. I have followed the left turn signal wire half way back to the front
of the coach. before loseing it in the bundels of wire. it has no power. all other wires to the trailer pulg work. acts like a fuse, if I can find the fuse box for the trailer plug???

Did you actually open that last door on the driver's side? There is no handle--it's screwed shut with several screws along the bottom and possibly the side.

The aft wall of the last compartment on the driver's side is removable. Take out a few screws, the panel comes out and what you're looking for is behind that. If you look in your power compartment you'll see there is a partial aft wall with an opening at the top. That partial wall is what you need to remove.

Two things to consider.

Home Depot sells a tracing tool. You connect a signal generator to the circuit and follow it with a sensor. Saved me a lot of time on the boat in situations like this.

Second there is a module under the dash that controls all chassis lamps. Not a likely cause in this case since only one line is affected, but keep it in mind.

Best step forward is a call to Freightliner hotline in the morning; they are a big help in these cases.
