Has anyone replaced their analog fuel gauge in the dash??

Coach type, see signature.

Gauge was acting crazy.... (fill up, shows full, go about 30 miles, shows half full, stays there until filled again) Had shop "troubleshoot" problem, they said, sending unit!! Warranty paid for fuel pump and sending unit.

Still acts the same. Must be the gauge, right??

Suggestions, comments, pictures, directions?????

Thanks in advance.

you may have ''wet'' gas. try adding a couple of cans (depending on how much fuel is in your tank) of a good fuel system cleaner and dryer such as seafoam. chevron techron is good too. wally world has seafoam. i have personally seen where seafoam has fixed erratic fuel quantity gauges. it is relatively inexpensive and worth a try.

Sea Foam | Motor Treatment

David;

Another option maybe to check the ground on the fuel tank. I believe a bad ground could cause problems. Just a guess. Good luck and please let us know what you find.

We own a 2004 Journey ... my fuel gauge was acting erratic ... I mentioned it to one of my RV friends that owned a rig similiar to mine ... he said he had had the same problem and he found his ignition switch bezel was loose ... he tightened the bezel and the problem went away ...

SOOOOOO ... I checked my ignition switch ... it was very loose ... I tightened the bezel ... the erratic fuel gauge problem went away ... the most difficult part was figuring out how to tighten the bezel ... I used two bladed screwdrivers ...

hey Skigramp,
I also have a 2004 Journey 34H with erratic fuel sensing. Please tell me what the bezel is. Is this the housing of the ignition switch (key goes into this)? Did you tighten it from outside the dash or under the dash. What is the relationship between a tightened bezel and good fuel sensing? thanks for your suggestion.
