We have a 2004 Journey.

The step well cover quit working today.

I am trying to find the fuse or circuit breaker for it ... does anyone know whether it is a fuse or circuit breaker ... and where it might be located?

Thanks

Electric step motor and step well cover motor share the same 25 amp CB in the front electrical box;
Step well motor is feed directly from the step cover switch - PDF page 2, location A-7 http://www.winnebagoind.com/diagram/...ire_145325.pdf

Step well switch is fed by circuit KA. Follow that to the large IP connector on pdf Page 3 (Location D-14). Please note that the main 12VDC feed to the steps also connects to the KA circuit (Location D-12).

The large IP connector picks up pdf page 6 of http://www.winnebagoind.com/diagram/...ire_144980.pdf (Location C-40). Circuit KA goes straight across the page and over to pdf page 5. Go half way across page 5 and then go up to the Front 12V Control Panel. The KA breaker is on the top row, 2nd from right.

The 12V Breaker Panel is shown on pdf page 4 of http://www.winnebagoind.com/diagram/...ire_144979.pdf. The 25 amp Electric Step Battery Power breaker is the source for both the step motor and step cover motor.

The Main Electrical Drawing Launch page for your rig is Table of Contents

Dave

Thanks for your response ... the steps work ... the step cover doesn't ...

So the trouble must be in the switch or stepcover motor ..

I removed the connector from the switch ... the supply wires have power ... when I jumper them to the "move" wires nothing happens ...

So I must have a slide cover motor problem ... or broken wire(s) between the switch and the motor ...

Thanks for your help ...

I took our Journey to the local RV Service Center today (not a dealer) ...

The tech found the problem to be in three wires
  1. the supply to the switch had 12 V but not enough power to drive the motor
  2. the two wires that run from the switch to the motor (that reverse polarity) were corrupt so he ran two new wires.
The step well cover works ... my copilot is happy to not have her feet dangling in the stair well ... who'd a thunk that would make her unhappy

Things the tech found out
  1. the visor switch and the stepwell cover switch are identical ... he tested the switch on the visor wiring to rule out a defective cover switch
  2. the cover motor ran fine when he applied 12V power directly to it
  3. there was an unused harness with a hot lead ... that now powers the step well cover.
  4. there is a very long screw in the cupholder that keeps the cover secure
