Galley Slide Floor Gasket Replacement

RE: 2004 VECTRA 40AD

HELP!!! Has anyone replaced the vinyl floor gasket on the edge of the galley slide that covers the hole when the slide is out? I bought the replacement part but cannot figure out how to get the old, dry vinyl gasket out. The edge has broken off and there is nothing to hold onto to pull on it. The arrow head tab that goes into the aluminum slot won't budge. There must be a way to remove it or they wouldn't sell the replacement. Guess I should have had it done in Forest City!

Pictures of the gasket attached.

Thanks

They recommend digging it out. Possibly using a drill to break it up. No easy extraction process. Glad my hourly rate is $0.

Have you tried a heat gun to make it more pliable?

Smile Problem solved

Thanks "bdpreece", the heat gun worked. It took a while and the vinyl connector came out in little warm pieces but the job is done. I used a Dremel and utility knife to remove everything other than the arrow shaped connector. A hook shaped pick pulled the vinyl out as the heat was applied.
Not a bad as I expected. The new casket went in fine (hammered with small board) and pictures are attached.

I know its a typo but it made me giggle. I've certainly had times that I thought a casket would be appropriate.

That's why we are here. I get more good info off this site than anywhere else.

Thanks Don for the pictures, I have been wanting to replace mine for some time. The problem with mine is the tile, for whatever reason, keeps sliding forward and pushing the trim piece out causing a bulge. Actually I think mine will come off very easily!! And it also is coming apart at the aft end, soooo, I, like you, will endulge soon, this project. As soon as the other projects are completed!!

Thanks,
