I have a 03 journey DL. I have owned it for 6 years and never had a problem with ithe gen. It is a onan 7.5. We are staying the winter in the MH and last night about midnight and on shore power, the gen started on its own and switched the power over to gen. I shut it down and all has been normal since. When it has been on shore power and lost AC nothing has happened before. So far as I know there is no auto start feature and so far as I know the power in the park didn't go off last night. Can anyone give any comments on what might be happening. One of my thoughts was the possibility of a critter fooling with the wiring.

Thanks

Other folks have seen this happen--a common problem seems to be moisture in the control cable connection coming out of the generator box (on the passenger side?). The Onan is started by supplying a ground connection--the hot lead is always on, and apparently moisture in the plug can provide that. I would inspect that connector, clean it, and put some dielectric grease on it.

We had the same problem last year. It was the PC Board...
of course it was out of Warranty at that time.

A well documented problem. It's amost always caused by moisture in the connector leading to the remote control panel. Dry out the connector, add some dielectric grease, cover the plug with something waterproof, and you should be good to go.

Mine did that about 4:00 AM and scared the cr@p out of me. It was as mentioned above moisture in the connector.
