GNR Parking

Hi,

We are planning to attend our first GNR.

We are coming in from Michigan, through Wisconsin. Our plans have us Walmarting Friday night, then get up Saturday 7/21 to arrive mid morning in Forest City. I know they list parking from 12-5 on Saturday.

I imagine Saturday to be a fairly busy arrival day. I was wondering how crazy it will be when we arrive? Having not been before how well signed is the entrance to park? We have reservations for section E.

Also want to fuel up prior to arrival.
Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Saturday morning is the Puckerbush parade and the town "shuts down" but if you are arriving from the south, you should not be impacted. Better to arrive Friday if possible as it wont be as busy and enjoy the weekend activities. If you get there an hour or so before parking stops, the lineups are minimal. You will need to dump and fill up with water at Pammel Park before entering so plan accordingly. See you there.

The parade on Saturday morning is fun, for sure consider coming in on Friday and then go enjoy the parade. I have been to 2 GNRs and arrival / getting parked has always been pretty painless in terms of time and hassle. It took about 1/2 hour one time and less than an hour the other time.

Does/can parking include a towed? Do most people towing have any problems?

Are reservations required or can you just show up and take pot luck for getting in? Sorry if this has been asked before. We're newbs when it comes to the GNR and all things Winnebago.

Your best bet for info about the GNR is to go to the WIT club site - Witclub.com - and download the March issue of Wit Club news which has ALL the info about the GNR including registration, parking, prices, etc. You can park a toad at the rally in designated lots - not beside your coach.

If you are in a handicapped section then you get to park your toad with your RV.

Everyone else parks their toad in designated toad parking areas. The GNR web site has a grounds map so you can get an idea of the close areas to your coach parking spot you can park your toad.

There is also a designated area to drop car trailers and tow dollys. They don't get to be parked with your coach.

When parking you will be directed south of the Winnebago GNR grounds. If I remember correctly you will be directed to turn onto a road south of the grounds and then you will be routed onto dirt roads leading to the GNR grounds. This allows Winnebago to build a line of rigs waiting to enter the grounds without blocking the only road through Forest City.. People will arrive early and get into line and wait for the grounds to open.

Parking is arranged into categories. You can join people from your home state or people with similar rigs or interests.

There will probably be a rain storm during your stay. It will probably not be a problem unless you need to leave and then re-enter the grounds or you are unlucky enough to be placed in a low spot. You may want to get something repaired on your rig during your stay, or you may want to go to the nearby RV park to dump tanks. When we were there we had work done at the Winnebago service center. Because of rain we were locked out of the grounds. We found a spot at the Welcome Center for the night.

We rented a golf cart during our stay making it easier to travel throughout the grounds.

Safe Travels. JD
