Don,
My Michelin book says the date code is the last 4 digits of the DOT number. Since it's a DOT number, I assume it would be the same for all brands. They say the first 2 digits are the week and the last 2 are the year. According to Michelin, prior to 2000, it was a 3 digit code with only 1 digit for the year.
The example they give is DOT B6 YB 2FC X 4200 - would indicate a production date of the 42nd week of 2000.
