Gray Water Odor

In our 2010 Adventurer 37F we have a gray water odor in the rear bathroom. This smell is nasty in the bedroom area. Investigation revealed that the gray water vent is located inside the bathroom vanity. Is there any way to overcome this smell, re-pipe the vent or close off the vent?

I suspect that vent is for the vanity only. The tank should vent out on the roof. You may want to invest in one of the many products designed to create a negative pressure in the tank, thus always pulling odors up and out the roof vent. Search - sewer vent - Camping World

I found that if my tanks are full when dumping, it sucks the shower drain empty. My Grandaughter though Grandma died in the back.I always pour water in the sinks and drains after dumping.

Replace the vent cap under the vanity. Could be a bad one.

That "vent" under the sink is a vacuum breaker. There is normally one under the galley sink also. It allows air into the tank when you dump the tanks so the water won't be sucked out of the traps as someone else mentioned. If it is stuck shut, the water can be sucked out of the traps, and you will get odor. If it is not closing properly you will get odor. It is easy to unscrew it and take a look at it. Some have a simple rubber flap setup, and some have a spring mechanism.

Suction to pull the water out of the P-Traps is due to bad check or auto air vents or roof vents.
