The manual says to lift the weight from the wheels on jacks or stands to grease the wheel assemblies the first time you do it and after that, there is no need to lift the weight off the wheels...how do most of you grease the wheel assemblies, weight on or off the wheels?...thanks RKL

I have some weight off the wheel so I can get under it. So I guess the wheels have partial weight on them.

My Freightliner RV Maintenance manual does not mention lifting the wheels off the ground to greese the front end first time around.

I just greased a few months ago and I have a total of 12 Zerc fittings. 4 around each wheel and 4 related to the steering plus arms.

A local RV shop has Lifts so I imagine they lift the RV up to greese it.

My XC is a bit older than yours.

i didnt lift mine either
however it was on the jacks and the fronts were "light" as i could turn them side to side pretty easy, to get to the fittings easier

I could not get a couple of zerk fittings, one on each side (lower ball joints?) to accept grease until I took some weight off the front axle.

I think I remember hearing that by taking the weight off the front tires while greasing the ball joints that it allows the grease to reach where the most weight would be on the joint (but grease couldn't get to with the full weight of the vehicle on them) and consequently the most wear. I've no way to prove this theory though.
