Does anyone know if the cables from the distribution box( in the front of the motorhome) that Winnebago put in , and go from the box to the tvs are hd cables. Direct Tv just told us we need high def cables from the dvr to the tv. If we do that, we can only get from the dvr to the box in the front. The cables are in the wall somewhere. Our question is, are the cables in the wall from the box to the tvs hd cables. We have a Journey 2010, 40T. Thanks for anyone who may be able to help us. Martha and Conrad

I think the answer to your question is yes and no.

I'm pretty sure they are RJ6 coax cables which will carry an HD signal from the dish to a receiver. However, I don't believe most receivers/DVR's have a coax HD output so you won't be able to simply put your receiver between the dish and the box and have HD on all of your TVs.... unless they each have their own receivers.

I converted my 07 Ellipse to all HD but running HDMI cables from the receiver to HDMI splitters and then HDMI cables down through the floor, under the coach, and back up to the TV's in the bedroom and outdoor entertainment center. You learn a lot about your coach when making cable runs like that.

Good luck.

Rick

It looks like they ran component cables from the video control box to the devices.

In our 40L the left front overhead cabnit has room for the Direct TV receiver with component cables and satelite hook ups. It worked very well for us for the main TV. I ran a cable to the bedroom receiver for the electic bay. We use a portable dish.

I started running HDMI cables a week ago, on and off. It is a lot of fun especially going in and out of slides... The bedroom slide wiring comes thru a 1 in. post that seems to be fed near the middle of the tag axle where there must be a "loop". It's my last hurdle...

I have a 2009 Journey with likely the same switch box. The box switches component/composite video & audio cables. These were predecessors to the HDMI cable. They will carry HD providing the box feeding them has component outputs. You will have to locate the satellite box where the component satellite input cable is but you will then be able to switch the HD picture to one or all of the sets connected to the switch box. You might want to insure that Winn has run the component cabling to all your TV locations. The wiring is a 3 conductor component video cable (red, green, blue), a two conductor stereo audio cable (red + white) and a composite video (non HD) cable (yellow). All cables are terminated on phono/RCA plugs.
I found that Winn did not wire the bedroon set to the switch rather provided a location for a second receiver in my coach. I added the wiring from the switch box to the bedroom to enable a single sat box to feed all sets thru the switcher.
